Vice President, Business Development

Kathleen Hokanson comes to Coleman | Hines with experience in operations and sales management for the energy, property development and transportation logistics industries. As VP, Business Development she will lead our Sales & Marketing efforts and our new offering of Sustainable Energy Strategies. This new offering will provide corporate sustainability training and planning which includes a step-by-step process for execution, training, internal and external communications, measurement & verification and “GHG” emissions reporting for our clients.

Kathleen has been active with some of the country’s most influential organizations focused on energy conservation and sustainability. The list includes:

  • EPA’s Climate Leaders®, a program focused on “GHG” Management Strategies
  • GHG Inventories development and development of Corporate Climate Strategies
  • Energy Star ®
  • National, US symbol for energy efficiency
  • National Collaborative for Sector Energy Efficient Programs, which focused on developing a national strategy for energy efficiency programs in businesses
  • U.S. Department of Energy’s “Project Victory,” a program designed to increase awareness among the American consumer of energy efficiency and energy independence.

In 2007, Kathleen was asked to participate on a round-table discussion with Minnesota leaders regarding sustainability programs in the year 2050, sponsored by the Regional Sustainable Development Partnerships.

For nearly 20 years, she has helped companies streamline processes and procedures, integrate cutting edge solutions and methodologies for operational excellence and cost reductions. In her professional career she has honed her skills by working with some of the most respected Fortune 500 companies in the United States. Clients have included Best Buy, Carlson Companies, Chrysler, Ford Motor Company, General Mills and Target. Kathleen’s leadership and “Six Sigma “Green Belt” experiences provide an integrated systematic approach to national energy supply procurement and facility energy efficiency opportunities.

As the national energy manager for a major national retailer, she was responsible for the overall energy budget and energy consumption of over 1,500 retail stores, distribution centers, corporate and regional offices. In addition, her experience and responsibilities include the oversight of companywide energy management programs for one of largest privately held companies specializing in the hotel, restaurant, travel and marketing industries. She served on the Customer Advisory Board for the Edison Electric Institute, National Accounts.

Kathleen attended the University of Minnesota where she studied Mass Communications & Marketing. She has a passion for the environment and a global sustainability. Her other interests include lifelong learning, photography, the “arts”, cooking, wine and traveling with her husband.
